Pronouncing “Chi” and “Qi”

A student has asked me:

Is there a difference in the way that Chi (eat) and Qi (7) are pronounced?

Also am I right in pronouncing Zhong as joo-ng or is it more like joe-ng?

Finally, I do business with a company in Huzhou  City.  I have been saying HOO-ZOE but should it be HOO – JOO? 

The two are indeed pronounced differently. I have recorded an audio with the 2 words spoken together.
To say the word Qi, your mouth should be as though you are about to smile and with your teeth showing. For Chi — your mouth wouldn’t be as stretched
